Important Information About Discontinuation of BeO Products

Innovative Power Products (IPP) has received a notification from Materion, one of the largest suppliers for Beryllium and Beryllium compounds in America, stating that OSHA has amended the law (29 CFR 1910.1024) that applies to the handling and processing of Beryllium which will take effect December 12, 2018.
The amendment requires significant changes to the way IPP handles Beryllium. The effect to our operations and throughout our whole facility makes this implementation extremely difficult at our current location. Sadly, this change will force us to stop producing products containing Beryllium at our facility by the effective date of this amendment. Therefore, we regret to announce that effective December 12, 2018 we will no longer be processing this material in our facility. This affects our Resistors, Terminations and Attenuators which are produced using Beryllium Oxide (BeO) ceramics.
We realize the impact this may cause our customers, and we are deeply sorry for this inconvenience but this amendment to the law came quickly and unexpectedly. Due to the long lead time to process raw materials for resistive products, IPP will accept orders for materials we have on hand up to October 31, 2018 for shipments out to March 31, 2019. Any nonstock products will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to meet the December 12th deadline.
Since we will only be able to accept orders up to the current capacity of our manufacturing facility, orders will be handled on a “first come, first served” basis and will be confirmed based on available manufacturing capacity. Additionally, because this is a hard date, all orders received may ship short depending upon what IPP can produce in this limited time. In the meantime, IPP is diligently working on offering similar products manufactured on Aluminum Nitride ceramic substrates for replacements in the near future.
